Donation Projects
We have expanded our platform to include donation-based projects—for organizations that urgently need support but are unable to generate financial returns. The first two donation-based crowdfunding organizations on bettervest were directly vetted by PHINEO according to the “Wirkt-Siegel” criteria.
Good to know: The selected organizations must be able to issue tax certificates recognized in Germany. This allows you to claim your donations as a tax deduction in Germany.
Crowdinvesting in renewable energy & energy efficiency projects
bettervest is a crowdfunding platform founded in 2012 to finance energy efficiency projects through citizen investment. Together, we have already financed more than 150 projects in 24 countries. bettervest stands for self-directed, project-based investing: investors decide for themselves which renewable energy and energy efficiency projects they want to co-finance.

bettervest report: On 13 December 2022, the report “Money isn’t everything – Investing in good causes – film by Alexandra Hostert and Norman Laryea” was broadcast on ZDF as part of plan b. In this report, bettervest and our Project Owner BURN Manufacturing are presented, among others. On 14 December 2021, the report was already shown on ARTE as part of ARTE:Re “Money isn’t everything – Investing with double returns”.
We’ve achieved a lot. And there’s much more to come.
The projects offered through bettervest are aimed at specifically described environmental or social changes – such as additional electricity generation from renewable energy sources, reduced energy consumption, projected CO₂ reductions, or the creation and improvement of social infrastructure. The impact each project aims for, the key figures used to describe it, and the assumptions and evidence on which this information is based are set out on the respective project page.
